HERITAGE PHOTOGRAPHY GREECE
INSTRUCTION
Teaching is one of the most rewarding ways to deepen knowledge and inspire others. Since the beginning of my photography career, I have been fortunate to instruct students of all levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners, in both classroom settings and on-site environments. My teaching spans the history and theory of photography, alongside practical instruction in a comprehensive range of photographic techniques—from classic analogue processes to cutting-edge digital workflows. In addition to traditional teaching, I develop and implement on-site training programs at archaeological excavations, equipping team members with essential skills for accurate and efficient photographic field recording. These programs emphasize not only technical proficiency but also the importance of visual documentation in preserving cultural heritage.

engage with archival images, cataloguing, researching, and writing about historical contexts. This comprehensive approach equips students with both the practical skills and the critical analysis needed to preserve and understand our shared past.
Photography and Archaeology at CYA

In the spring semester I teach a 300-level course in Photography and Archaeology at College Year in Athens. The course examines photography's crucial role in documenting and interpreting the archaeological record, blending practical technical training with in-depth theoretical study. Students learn to use high-resolution photography and digital editing to capture the intricate details of heritage sites and artifacts. Additionally, the course includes hands-on work in archives, where students
photogrammetry. This program equips students with advanced digital skills to capture high-resolution images and create detailed 3D models, ensuring precise documentation of the excavation and supporting research, publication, and conservation efforts.
Archaeological Documentation at the Lechaion Harbor and Settlement Land Project (LHSLP)

At LHSLP, the field school provides immersive, hands-on training in archaeological methods and artifact analysis. Students gain experience in excavation techniques, ceramic identification, and field recording using tools like iDig on iPads, while learning from an interdisciplinary team of specialists through lectures and site visits—all within the vibrant setting of Ancient Corinth.

Within this framework, I lead a specialized digital documentation program focusing on drone flight training, aerial and site photography, and basic
Workshops with MONUMENTA

Over the years, I have led Monumenta workshops in Athens that focus on photographing the city's architectural heritage for surveys and publication, alongside hands-on sessions exploring various urban photographic themes. In collaboration with MONUMENTA—a non-profit organization established in 2006 dedicated to protecting the natural and architectural heritage of Greece and Cyprus—these workshops provide practical training and creative exploration, contributing to the ongoing preservation and appreciation of Athens' historic fabric.
